How to Grow Your Own Field

To grow wheatgrass (for our project “Standing in a Field” at ASTR Dallas 2013):

1 Soak seeds in clean water 8-12 hours.

2 Drain. Rinse with clean water three times over the next 24 hours.

3 When a short “tail” appears go to the next step; if not, continue rinsing another day.

4 Spread the sprouted seeds evenly on some soil. Water well and cover gently to prevent drying. Water once or twice daily for three days.

5 Uncover, place in light but not direct sunlight and water well daily. For juicing, harvest when the leave just starts to divide.

  2. The mugs are from our current project in Madison. Wheatgrass kits are marketed specifically for cats, so I guess so. You should use caution as you would whenever using household pets to harvest micro-agriculture!
